“角落”展序

“角落”——來自貴陽的當代藝術展匯集了這幾年活躍于貴陽的十四位藝術家,正是這些藝術家的努力工作,使貴陽的當代藝術有了一些新的面貌。
在這十五位藝術家中,有兩位藝術家是我必須提一提的,借這樣的機會,我向這兩位表示真誠的敬意。頭一位,算是我的長輩,也是看著我成長并且并肩多年的朋友。80年代,我叫他叔叔;90年代我叫他老師;2000年后,我叫他、并且貴陽所有的藝術家,不分男女長幼,都胡亂地叫他:幺哥。這位藝術家,姓陳名啟基,自70年代以來,一直執(zhí)著于藝術工作,裝置、行為、圖片、繪畫、雕塑無所不能。最近,還出版了一本名叫《我的石阡》的散文圖集。今年正式進駐貴陽“城市零件”當代藝術工作室,和一幫二、三十歲的年輕人一起工作、玩。說幺哥是貴陽當代藝術的元老級人物,實不為過。

另一位,算是我的兄長,現(xiàn)為貴大藝術學院雕塑系主任、“邊緣線”當下藝術空間負責人的李革。我清晰地記得我在80年代末首次看見他那充滿野性的油畫作品,他的畫風,直接影響了我以后的創(chuàng)作。從那以后,我常和李革喝酒,談論德國的藝術、哲學,并肩合作了多次對貴陽當代藝術起到積極作用的藝術活動。李革善飲酒,我的印象里,他是從來不會醉的,并且可以和尊重藝術的任何人喝死算球。最經(jīng)典的故事,是多年前的一個晚上,晚上11多鐘,幺哥在自己家外的街攤上看見李革和幾位朋友喝酒,并打了招呼,聊了幾句。幺哥是冬泳愛好者,每天清晨6點半便出門跑步到黔靈湖游泳。當幺哥又經(jīng)過頭晚和李革打招呼的街攤時,驚奇地發(fā)現(xiàn)李革還在那個攤上,端著酒杯勸酒:“喝死算球,干!”幺哥一下子覺得很虛幻,下意識地看了下表,又抬起頭看看天,朦朦亮了。李革搞藝術,如他喝酒般執(zhí)著,為了波依斯,他曾和一位用言語辱罵波依斯的人大打出手。別的,我就不用多言語了吧。

我相信執(zhí)著于藝術的人是我們這個胡亂的社會所需要的,我希望這次展覽的藝術家,也象兩位一樣堅持搞藝術,堅持自己的生存方式。當然,也包括我自己。

我把這次展覽命名為:“角落”,是我對貴陽當代藝術的基本感覺。貴陽的當代藝術如同我去年創(chuàng)辦“城市零件”當代藝術工作室的地理位置一樣,生存在一個潮濕的角落里?!俺鞘辛慵弊湓谫F陽的背面一個大斜坡上,背靠貴陽著名的相寶山,沿著這座頗有靈氣的山腳往上走,有一條彎彎曲曲胡亂的街道,兩旁是一些菜農(nóng)修造成的各色房子,房子里住有小姐、農(nóng)民工、小生意人、小偷、吸毒的,各色人等,也有兩位“城市零件”的藝術家,很是鬧熱?!俺鞘辛慵迸c這條胡亂的街道辦鄰,相安無事,大家各自忙碌,都為著以后有好的生活。藝術也許更應該呆在這樣的角落里,保持自己的特色?,F(xiàn)在的中國,每一個大一點的城市都有這樣的角落,同樣混雜著各色人等,藝術家在這樣的環(huán)境里,做著各自的白日夢。

參加這次展覽的藝術家,有一半來自我創(chuàng)建的“城市零件”,另一半,來自李革創(chuàng)建的“邊緣線”當下藝術空間?!斑吘壘€”的藝術家,基本上全是做雕塑的,這幾年,貴陽的雕塑有他們折騰,總算是有點聲音。

特別感謝王林先生,他自90年代就開始關注貴陽當代藝術的發(fā)展,做了很多實際的工作,至于管郁達,我不需多言了,自他離開貴陽移居昆明,雖只有幾百公里,但我卻時常常感到寂寞。

最后,我代表全體參展藝術家謝謝99藝術網(wǎng)和K畫廊的全體員工,這次展覽的成功舉辦,得益于楊凱的獨特眼光和及其員工辛勤的工作。

2007年7月23日夜于貴陽“城市零件”

Fourteen active artists from Guiyang will be available in Exhibition of “Corner”—Contemporary Art from Guiyang. Because of their efforts, Contemporary Art in Guiyang has a new look now. Among them, I must mention two. And I wanna show my respect to them. One is my elder. He is not only my friend but also the one who witnesses my growth. In 1980s, I called him Uncle; tutor was what I called him in 1990s; while after 2000s, all artists in Guiyang call him “Yao Ge” no matter you are young or old, male or female. But his true name is Chen Qiji, who dedicated himself to various artistic styles such as installations, performance, pictures, paintings, sculptures, etc. since 1970s. Recently, My Shiqian, kind of prose atlas, has been published. He officially moves to Guiyang Parts of City Contemporary Art Workshop this year, works and plays with the young with the age of twenty or thirty. It is reasonable to honor him as the senior of Guiyang Contemporary Art.

The other one is my brother and now working as the head of Sculpture Department, Arts Institute, Guizhou University, and the director of “Edge Line” Contemporary Art Space. His name is Li Ge. I still remember at the first time I saw the oil paintings by him full of wildness in the end of 1980s. His style directly affects me. Since then, I have always drunk with him, discussed German Art and philosophy and organized several events, which have great effects on Guiyang Contemporary Art. He has never been drunk in my memory, and dying from drinking with anyone who respects art is easy to him. Here is a classic story happened at night years ago. Yao Ge saw Li Ge drinking with several friends near his house at 11:00 pm. They said hello to each other and talked for a while. Yao Ge loves winter swimming. He runs to Qianlin Lake and swims in the lake at 6:00am every morning. When Yao Ge got back and passed by the same place, he found Li Ge was still there drinking, which made Yao Ge feel so fancy. He checked the time and looked up at the sky; it was just dawn. Li Ge does art just like he insists on drinking. He even fought against somebody who abused Bois. Words are not enough for others.

I believe that people insisting on art are needed in the society. I hope the exhibitors are just like the above two and keep on their own living styles, including me of course.
I name the exhibition, “Corner”, which is my essential feeling to Guiyang Contemporary Art. Guiyang Contemporary Art living in the wet corner is just like the location of Parts of City founded last year. “Parts of City” locates on a large slope, behind which is the Famous Xiangbao Mountain of Guiyang. Walking up along with the foot of the mountain, there are winding streets and different houses, in which lives different persons includes misses, farmers, businessmen, thieves, drug-taker, etc. Living in such a place, artists make their own daydreams.

Half the exhibitors are from Parts of City, while the rest are from “Edge Line” Contemporary Art Place by Li Ge. Most of the artists from “Edge Line” do sculptures. In recent years, there are certain achievements in sculpture with their efforts.
We really appreciate Mr. Wanglin, who has focused on the development of Guiyang Contemporary Art since 1990s with great achievements. It is not necessary for me to say any more about Guan Yuda. I always feel lonely since he moved to Kunming.
At last, on behalf of all exhibitors, I appreciate djkxsd.cn and the workers of K Gallery. To successfully organize the exhibition mostly depends on Yang Kai’s distinctive vision and the employees, hard work.
