燦藝術(shù)中心將于2023年4月8日舉辦藝術(shù)家譚平「紙上」作品個(gè)展。即將呈現(xiàn)譚平早年的紙上實(shí)驗(yàn)作品,以及近三年的新作,形成一道藝術(shù)家紙本創(chuàng)作的時(shí)間線,展示一些新的思考與情感投射。

Can Art Center is pleased to announce the artist Tan Ping’s solo exhibition, featuring his works on paper on April 8, 2023. With the exhibition, Tan Ping will present his early experiments with works on paper, aligned with his new creations over the past three years. A trajectory of the artist's creation on paper is unfolded, revealing some new reflections and emotional projections of him.

每隔一段時(shí)間,譚平就會(huì)在原有線索上打開創(chuàng)作的新維度。他認(rèn)為藝術(shù)一定要處于一種變化的、不確定的狀態(tài)之中,才更加有趣,也更加具有生命力。在進(jìn)行了一系列裝置、多媒體、油畫、版畫、設(shè)計(jì)領(lǐng)域的藝術(shù)實(shí)踐之后,近年來他開始嘗試「紙上」的創(chuàng)作與梳理。

At times, Tan Ping opens a new dimension of creation based on the original trajectory. He believes that art must be in a state of change and uncertainty to gain more interest and vitality. After a series of artistic practices with installation, multimedia, oil painting, printmaking and design, in recent years he began to experiment with works on “paper” and he has organized his thoughts.

與以往的大尺幅布面作品不同,譚平此次選擇更加柔軟、原始、生動(dòng)的手工紙作為載體進(jìn)行創(chuàng)作,并依賴于藝術(shù)家的直覺,與紙張、材料之間進(jìn)行相互影響與變化,為個(gè)人創(chuàng)作注入了新的活力與單元。

Different from previous large-scale works on canvas, Tan Ping chooses the softer, more primitive handmade paper as the medium for his creation. He relies on intuition to interact with the paper and other materials, and inject a new vitality and unit into his personal creation.

正如譚平說的:“抽象是對(duì)繪畫本體語言的研究,色彩、線條,這是在德國時(shí)候的訓(xùn)練,傳達(dá)自己的理念和情緒。藝術(shù)的來源不是藝術(shù)本身,而是環(huán)境、社會(huì),感受到這些因素后,表達(dá)就具有了當(dāng)代性。”

As he Says,“Abstraction is the study of the ontological language of painting, color, line, which is the training I’ve received in Germany, to convey a person’s ideas and emotions. The source of art is not the art itself, but the environment and the society. After these are felt, one’s expression takes on a contemporary character.”

他一直認(rèn)為,重要的是能夠進(jìn)行自由表達(dá),近40年的時(shí)間他不斷地通過色彩、觀念、空間的改變?nèi)?chuàng)作新的作品。對(duì)于他而言更加喜歡的是創(chuàng)作中環(huán)境所帶來的感受,情緒的牽引,以及那一瞬間迸發(fā)的偶然性。

For him, what is important is to express himself freely. For almost 40 years, he has been creating new works through the variations in color, concept, and space. For him, what he prefers is the feeling from the environment, emotional tensions, and a moment’s contingency.

疫情爆發(fā)后,讓原本就未知的世界變得更加復(fù)雜與不確定,這段時(shí)期意外地給予了藝術(shù)家一次全新的感悟與經(jīng)歷,使得譚平再次去思考,并且開始逐漸回到繪畫的原點(diǎn)。

The outbreak of the pandemic has turned the unknown world more complex and uncertain. Unexpectedly, this period has brought the artist a new insight and experience, which guided him to reflect and gradually return to the original point of painting.

紙代表著中國獨(dú)特的雅趣與溫度,他嘗試將西方油畫的創(chuàng)作系統(tǒng)移植至具有東方意蘊(yùn)的紙上,展現(xiàn)出新的視覺魅力。這樣的創(chuàng)作方式為觀者帶來了一種全新的感受,作品輕松且精巧,色塊清透、線條靈動(dòng)、色彩明艷,情感準(zhǔn)確而細(xì)膩,有序且純粹,亦是疫情之下與過后的療愈與安慰。

Paper represents a unique Chinese elegance and temperature. He tried to transfer the creative system of Western oil painting onto paper, a medium full of Eastern connotations, and reveal a new visual charm.Such creative approach brings a new experience to the viewer. The works are relaxing and delicate, featuring translucent color blocks, dynamic lines and bright colors, revealing precise and delicate emotions, orderly and pure. They also provide healing and consolation to people during and after the pandemic.

如何讓繪畫重返活力,借用不同形式、媒介和觀念,探討和實(shí)踐繪畫中的無限變量,便是譚平新作的意義。

The meaning of Tan Ping's new work is to revitalize painting, to explore and practice the infinite variables in painting by applying different forms, media and concepts.

在物質(zhì)材料上,他選擇丙烯這種易干、色彩飽滿、覆蓋力強(qiáng)的媒介,以寬松的筆觸,書寫日記式的將顏料一層又一層的涂抹、覆蓋,以不同的速度滲透、蔓延,使畫面中的色彩獨(dú)具敏感的多樣性;彼此交融的線條或長(zhǎng)或短,或深或淺,畫面再次被分解為不同的場(chǎng)域,依舊是譚平特有的藝術(shù)語言。

In terms of materials, he chooses acrylic, a medium that is easy to dry, high saturated, and strong in coverage. With loose brush strokes, Tan applies layers of paint like writing a diary. The paint penetrates and spreads at different speeds, to generate diversified colors with unique sensitivity. The lines are intermingled, long or short, dark or light, which divide the image into different fields. This is Tan’s unique artistic language.

同時(shí),譚平認(rèn)為追求結(jié)果和關(guān)注一件作品產(chǎn)生的過程同等重要,而布展是一次再創(chuàng)作,他非常重視作品的呈現(xiàn)形式,本次展覽亦是他親自到現(xiàn)場(chǎng)參與布展。他希望這個(gè)過程帶給藝術(shù)家的感受,以及作品最終帶給觀者的感受,都是酣暢且愉悅的。

Meanwhile, Tan Ping believes that it is equally important to pursue the result and pay attention to the process of producing a work. Since the installation is a re-creation, he attaches great importance to the presentation and instructed the installation on venue for this exhibition.He hopes that this process and the final product will bring the artist and the viewer a sense of ease and pleasure.

譚平,藝術(shù)家、教育家,1984年畢業(yè)于中央美術(shù)學(xué)院,八十年代末留學(xué)德國柏林藝術(shù)大學(xué),獲碩士學(xué)位和Meisterschule學(xué)位。英國金斯頓大學(xué)榮譽(yù)博士。曾任中央美術(shù)學(xué)院設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院院長(zhǎng)、中央美術(shù)學(xué)院副院長(zhǎng),中國藝術(shù)研究院副院長(zhǎng),現(xiàn)任中國美術(shù)家協(xié)會(huì)實(shí)驗(yàn)藝術(shù)委員會(huì)主任,中國藝術(shù)研究院國家當(dāng)代藝術(shù)中心主任。
在長(zhǎng)達(dá)40年的藝術(shù)實(shí)踐中,他始終探索于繪畫、版畫、多媒體、設(shè)計(jì)等多個(gè)領(lǐng)域。作品被中國美術(shù)館、上海美術(shù)館、波特蘭美術(shù)館、路德維希博物館、亞利桑那州立大學(xué)美術(shù)館等國內(nèi)外重要機(jī)構(gòu)收藏。
Tan Ping Born in Hebei Province, China in 1960, Tan Ping is now professor and doctoral tutor of Chinese National Academy of Arts. He graduated from the Department of Printmaking, Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1984 and stayed on campus for teaching. He was awarded DAAD scholarship for further study at the Free Painting Department, Berlin University of the Arts, Germany from 1989 to 1994. In 2002, he was appointed as Dean of the School of Design, Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2003, he was promoted to Vice President of Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 2014, he became Vice President of Chinese National Academy of Arts, Director of Experimental Art Committee of China Artists Association and Director of National Research Center for Contemporary Art concurrently.
His works are collected by multiple major institutions in China and abroad, including the National Art of China, Shanghai Art Museum, CAFA Art Museum, Kolding Museum of Modern Arts, Portland Art Museum, Ludwig Museum, ASU Art Museum.
