在眾多中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)家中，朱偉是極少的幾位以傳統(tǒng)水墨畫詮釋當(dāng)代中國社會現(xiàn)狀的藝術(shù)家之一。他的繪畫彌補(bǔ)了中國當(dāng)代藝術(shù)缺少本土繪畫參與這一必要環(huán)節(jié)，他的努力研究增加了當(dāng)代藝術(shù)在本土落地的可能性以及延續(xù)性，也讓世界看到了真正來源于東方繪畫的當(dāng)代趣味和觀念以及它的功力。他是中國當(dāng)代水墨畫最重要的探索者和代表人物之一。
Zhu Wei is one of very few Chinese contemporary artists to choose a classical artistic medium – ink and wash – to represent the social realities of modern China. His work allows for both local and traditional artistic elements in the evolution of Chinese contemporary art. Zhu’s study of the traditional art form has created new potential for contemporary art to grow and flourish in the soil of local aesthetics. His art demonstrates to the world the concept, energy and contemporanaeity of Asian painting. He as well as one of the most important explorers and representatives of Chinese modern ink and wash painting.
